National Poetry Day 6: Sentimental Singer Songwriter Review (In Verse)

Never kicked the booze
Never had a reason
Never had enough to lose
He drinks because it's pleasing
With nothing to abuse

Talks about his mom a bit more
Than the hard rocking folkers
And self-saboteurs who came before

Coastlines and fresh caught social cues
Other things that follow you around
Like personal squalor with new shoes
They almost happen, then hit the ground

A life rich in lessons
He's busy never learning
Reciting walls of writing
Just to criticize the kerning

Left LA for a bit
A quick Sonoran breather
Maybe he forgot
Self-deprecating wit
Is almost always neither
When both you are not
