Comforting Thoughts

You used to deflect the ground
Like a stone glancing at the bottom of a lake
Like it was just a distraction
Not a destination
Not a destiny
Not to land next to me
But somewhere in that horizon
The one I described with my teasing tosses
Then I cross the bridge of a million losses
Then there I was
And now here you are
Waiting for a sign
To put down the harp
And lay down the tarp
And talk at me
Of crisis,
ledges
Anagnorisis,
edges
And if I wasn't standing here bearing
Only a smock and a smirk staring
Then we'd fall from space, and give no chase
Then we'd have never been built in the first place
